I Kept My Virginity But Lost My Purity. by Glory12345(f): 10:59am On Dec 28
There are so many teachings today about virginity! One guy was telling me the other time how he so much desired to marry a lady that is a virgin like himself, as good as that sounds, it is not the ultimate! I have written a lot about the need to preserve sex for marriage, and wait till you are married before having sex, the truth is that singles should abstain from premarital sex, and the married should abstain from extra-marital affairs, they are not man-made rules, they are commands from God written in the Holy Scriptures! Run from sexual sin! No other sin clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body (1Cor 6:18) and Proverb 6: 32 says But a man who commits adultery has no sense; whoever does so destroys himself. So I’m not in any way undermining the sanctity of virginity!
But unfortunately, more emphasis has been laid on virginity at the detriment of purity! Lots of young people believe that virginity and purity are synonymous! Thinking if you are a virgin then you are sexually pure! Hear this! You can be a VIRGIN and STILL BE A FORNICATOR! You can be a virgin and still be guilty of sexual immorality, in other words, YOUR VIRGINITY CAN BE INTACT, whereas YOUR PURITY IS LOST!
Read what Jesus said: But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart (Mathew 5:28), so you discovered that the issue of fornication/adultery has gone pass virginity! The sin is committed in the heart before the outward manifestation!
Purity is not just about whether you’ve had sex before or not, Purity is about being sexually pure inwardly and outwardly, PURITY IS NOT AN EVENT, IT’S A LIFESTYLE!
So many youths are only concerned about keeping their virginity (which is good) but less concerned about what they do with their body, so many are still involved in pornography,Watching blue films on the Infinix Zero 4 dry-humping (caressing their bodies with clothes on), masturbating, lustful kissing, homosexuality, sexual imaginations etc… All those sexual activities render you impure, regardless of whether you are a virgin or not!
If you are a virgin, strive not to lose your virginity to anyone other than your husband or wife, if you’ve lost your virginity, strive not to continue in premarital sex! But above all STRIVE TO BE SEXUALLY PURE AND LIVE A LIFE OF HOLINESS IN ALL RAMIFICATIONS! PURITY............

Nigerian Man Who Wrote JAMB 7 Times Tells His Story
Nigerian Man Who Wrote JAMB 7 Times Tells His Story by jonhemma11: 4:08pm On Dec 29Inspiring story of Precious Ogechi,a Nigerian man from Port Harcourt who wrote JAMB 7 times. He wrote.....
'My Story
After my secondary education, I decided to further my studies.
I wrote the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th JAMB exams and they were all cancelled. I decided to take the bull by the horn. I went to Enugu State University for a pre-degree program. On the completion of the program, I was offered a course in faculty of Science but the cultism in the institution as at then was unbearable for me, having being attacked twice. I decided to use the 5th JAMB that was released to study at University of Port Harcourt. Then ASUU had a protracted strike that lasted for over six months, I needed to write a 6th JAMB and I scored 274 but that score couldn’t offer me admissions as the two JAMBS were combined because the strike entered another year. After the first 6yrs at home, WAEC too was cancelling my results and I wrote WAEC/NECO four times. I was frustrated, mocked, criticized and called a failure. Some of my classmates were already youth Corpers. Many out of pity told me to quit because school wasn’t for me. The criticisms, mockery and name calling from people that didn’t know what I was passing through compounded my issues and I started thinking of quitting/suicide.
One evening, my brother in-law/mentor told me “Ogechi nobody can frustrate or determine the outcome of your life except you, don’t quit trying, you’ll be whatever you want to be” I repeated that to myself over a hundred times that night and I assumed the position of a CEO in my life.
I enrolled for another pre-degree program in University of Port Harcourt, and wrote the 7th JAMB and it was also canceled but thank God I passed the BASIC program. So to gain admissions to do a bachelors program, I wrote JAMB 7times, WAEC/NECO 4times and Pre-degree 2times.
However, when I finally entered University, I passed Rivers State government scholarship exams to study abroad but few weeks to departure, another government took over in 2007 and cancelled the scholarship. But I told myself I must study in Nigeria and abroad.
People called me a failure but, I don’t know if I am still a failure, if school is for me now or not, or if am still bewitched as people said..
All I can remember now is that I have done BSc in Nigeria, Masters in Safety and Environmental Management in UK, have seven additional professional certifications, qualified as a Chartered Environmentalist in UK and have worked both in Nigeria & Scotland.
I have learnt that setbacks are actually strongholds in disguise if we don’t quit trying.
I have learnt that persistence wears off every resistance.
I have also learnt as a Christian that if your faith says Yes, God won’t say No, only be DETERMINED.
I give God ALL the glory and shame to the devil'.

Overcoming the Fear of the Unknown
Overcoming the Fear of the Unknown
Everyone of us has a unique dream about the future but it has been shattered by fear of the unknown. The promising future of most young people has been put on hold has a result of fear of the unknown. Fear, when left alone to fester will cripple every good thing about our lives. Fear is a torment; it has denied most men of their glorious destinies.
Fear simply means to be frightened. It stands for; F-forget, E-everything, A-and, R-run.
A lot of people are uncertain about the future. They often say "I don't know what the future holds for me". They have let fear of the unknown to rob them of their glorious destinies. The Bible says in 2 Timothy 1:7
KJV:For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
When you give in to fear; your destiny will crumble before your very eyes. This is what we see in Job 3:25 KJV:For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.
When you nurse that fear; it will make a nuisance of your life!
How to overcome fear of the unknown
1. The word of God
To overcome fear, you need a powerful weapon that can dissolve it, and that is the word of God. Faith is the direct opposite of fear. The word of God not only dissolves fear but it also generates faith in your heart to overcome your fears.
2. Testimonies or success stories of others
Testimonies are very powerful tools that stir up faith in you. They are a pointer to how someone else bitter experiences and challenges turned 360 degrees to testimonies.
When the devil whispers to you that you can't make it in life; look at the success stories of others and use it as a ladder to your destiny. When friends or colleagues try to discourage you about seeking admission in that prestigious school, about bidding for that contract,
about that business proposal's by telling you about someone that did same thing and failed; use the success stories of others and the word of God to counter their negative words. Stop feeding your fear; rather start to feed on the catalyst that will help you overcome your fear. Now is the time to deal the with this monster called fear of the unknown!

Drink Responsibly (episode one)
During this festive season, a lot of us in the course of our celebration, consume a lot of alcoholic drinks with our friends and loved ones at homes and in beer parlors. It is advisable that you take into consideration the effects of alcohol in our bodies.
In this episode, we shall be looking at the following;
Alcohol and your body
Let's look at the steps our body takes to process alcohol.
In this episode, we shall be looking at the following;
Alcohol and your body
Let's look at the steps our body takes to process alcohol.
- After we take a sip of alcohol, it passes from our stomachs into our small intestine, where it starts getting quickly absorbed into the blood stream. It travels through the body's fluids and affects every cells except fat cells.
- It takes about five minutes from the time of consumption before the effect of a drink can be felt.
- Alcohol stimulates the brain cells and also the adrenal glands, bringing that "feel-good" factor. It can lead to a feeling of increased relaxation, which can make us feel friendlier and more open. However, remember that:
Chemically, alcohol is a depressant, which means it slows the nervous system down.
- It also affects the speed at which you process information and, depending on how much you drink, can also affect your judgment.
- The amount of alcohol in the bloodstream is measured in terms of the "Blood Alcohol Concentration" or "Blood Alcohol Content" (BAC), defined as the percentage of alcohol (ethanol) in the blood.
- BAC can be determined by testing a persons urine, breath or blood.
- The definition of intoxication as a function of BAC varies among countries.

Have faith in yourself first
Have faith in yourself first
If you can think that infinite power, infinite knowledge and indomitable energy lie within you, and if you can bring out that power, you also can become like me. Infinite patience, infinite purity, and infinite perseverance are the secret of success in a good cause.
It is our own mental attitude which makes the world what it is for us. Our thoughts make things beautiful, our thoughts make things ugly. The whole world is in our own minds. Learn to see things in the proper light.
Know that every time you feel weak, you not only hurt yourself but also the cause. Infinite faith and strength are the only conditions of success. Let people say whatever they like, stick to your own convictions, and rest assured, the world will be at your feet. They say, Have faith in this fellow or that fellow, but, I say, Have faith in yourself first, thats the way.

In the Valleys I Grow
In the Valleys I Grow
Sometimes life seems hard to bear, Full of sorrow, trouble and woe
Its then I have to remember That its in the valleys I grow.
If I always stayed on the mountain top And never experienced pain,
I would never appreciate Goodness And would be living in vain.
I have so much to learn, And my growth is very slow,
Sometimes I need the mountain tops, But its in the valleys I grow.
Please forgive me for complaining When Im feeling so very low.
Just give me a gentle reminder That its in the valleys I grow.
I give thanks for those valleys, For theres one thing that I know
The mountain tops are glorious But its in the valleys I grow!

15 Laws of Life
15 Laws of Life by Swami Vivekananda
1. Love Is The Law Of Life: All love is expansion, all selfishness is contraction. Love is therefore the only law of life. He who loves lives, he who is selfish is dying. Therefore, love for love's sake, because it is law of life, just as you breathe to live.
2. It's Your Outlook That Matters: It is our own mental attitude, which makes the world what it is for us. Our thoughts make things beautiful, our thoughts make things ugly. The whole world is in our own minds. Learn to see things in the proper light.
3. Life is Beautiful: First, believe in this world - that there is meaning behind everything. Everything in the world is good, is holy and beautiful. If you see something evil, think that you do not understand it in the right light. Throw the burden on yourselves!
4. It's The Way You Feel: Feel like Christ and you will be a Christ; feel like Buddha and you will be a Buddha. It is feeling that is the life, the strength, the vitality, without which no amount of intellectual activity can reach God.
5. Set Yourself Free: The moment I have realised God sitting in the temple of every human body, the moment I stand in reverence before every human being and see God in him - that moment I am free from bondage, everything that binds vanishes, and I am free.
6. Don't Play The Blame Game: Condemn none: if you can stretch out a helping hand, do so. If you cannot, fold your hands, bless your brothers, and let them go their own way.
7. Help Others: If money helps a man to do good to others, it is of some value; but if not, it is simply a mass of evil, and the sooner it is got rid of, the better.
8. Uphold Your Ideals: Our duty is to encourage every one in his struggle to live up to his own highest idea, and strive at the same time to make the ideal as near as possible to the Truth.
9. Listen To Your Soul: You have to grow from the inside out. None can teach you, none can make you spiritual. There is no other teacher but your own soul.
10. Be Yourself: The greatest religion is to be true to your own nature. Have faith in yourselves!
11. Nothing Is Impossible: Never think there is anything impossible for the soul. It is the greatest heresy to think so. If there is sin, this is the only sin - to say that you are weak, or others are weak.
12. You Have The Power: All the powers in the universe are already ours. It is we who have put our hands before our eyes and cry that it is dark.
13. Learn Everyday: The goal of mankind is knowledge... now this knowledge is inherent in man. No knowledge comes from outside: it is all inside. What we say a man 'knows', should, in strict psychological language, be what he 'discovers' or 'unveils'; what man 'learns' is really what he discovers by taking the cover off his own soul, which is a mine of infinite knowledge.
14. Be Truthful: Everything can be sacrificed for truth, but truth cannot be sacrificed for anything.
15. Think Different: All differences in this world are of degree, and not of kind, because oneness is the secret of everything.

The Power of Positive Thinking
The Power of Positive Thinking
Positive thinking is a mental attitude that admits into the mind thoughts, words and images that are conductive to growth, expansion and success. It is a mental attitude that expects good and favorable results. A positive mind anticipates happiness, joy, health and a successful outcome of every situation and action. Whatever the mind expects, it finds.
Many have heard it said that another person cannot make you happy. The happiness will come from within you. Being confident is a choice and it will produce positive emotions. There has been much research done on being in a positive state. It will produce a sense of well-being and has even proven to have multiple health benefits. Successful living today being positive will change your life.
The way that someone feels about themselves shows in the way they act. They always find funny things in everyday life that makes them and others happy. There is joy and cheerfulness that just rubs off on the people who are around them. The way they feel shows in their life because they are more relaxed and sleep better at night. They are not only physically assured but mentally as well. Most people have a spiritual connection that gives them the confident mindset in life.
People who have a confident mindset take full advantage of their work force. They go in everyday with a smile on their face and the confidence that they have the ability to handle anything that comes their way. Their ability to take responsibility and not to blame others when something goes wrong shows that they have a handle on life. Negative emotions have no place with them on their way to success.
Confidence is so much better than looking back and thinking of what could have been. Confident people are ones that you want to be around because they make the most of the present and look forward to the future. They are in awe of the beauty of nature and good things around them.
This behavior comes from choosing the atmosphere that one is around. It is best to surround yourself with assured people that are upbeat and thinking good thoughts. Try to avoid negative news and thinking on unpleasant things. This will be to your advantage in building the blocks in your life of thinking of good wholesome thoughts.
Positive and negative thinking are both contagious.
All of us affect, in one way or another, the people we meet. This happens instinctively and on a subconscious level, through thoughts and feelings transference, and through body language. People sense our aura and are affected by our thoughts, and vice versa. Is it any wonder that we want to be around positive people and avoid negative ones? People are more disposed to help us if we are positive, and they dislike and avoid anyone broadcasting negativity.
Negative thoughts, words and attitude bring up negative and unhappy moods and actions. When the mind is negative, poisons are released into the blood, which cause more unhappiness and negativity. This is the way to failure, frustration and disappointment.
Becoming a Positive Example to All
Being positive, doing the right things and thinking the right things will produce the kind of behavior that is an example to all. It will be an encouragement to those around you and an example that they can follow. Watching your confident living will help those with negative tendencies to change the way they think. If it changes the course of their lives you have done a great thing. Being careful of the things we say also will manifest how we act. Our conversation should be complimentary and uplifting.
Being tolerant of others is another advantage of being confident. We will not always be treated in the manner that is right. We are not responsible for the negative way that people treat us, but we are responsible for how we react to it. A positive person will realize that sometimes people are a product of their environment. Maybe they didn't have all of the advantages that you did. The right thing to do is to act in a positive way.
It is always positive to think of others. Contributing in positive ways leads to an eternal happiness.

Change your world by changing the way you think
Change your world by changing the way you think
One of the greatest asset God gave to man is the human mind. The mind is built in such a sophisticated way that the success or failure of an individual depends on what that person is thinking. It is the centre of critical, qualitative and analytical reasoning. It is the seat of thoughts. Also, it is the place where great ideas are birthed.
So many great ideas has been aborted because of the phrase: "I don't think it is humanly possible". Are you a career person? A business man? An academician? A student? A professional athlete? What is your perspective about life? What are the kinds of thoughts that goes on in your mind? Do you think possibilities or impossibility? You can only succeed in life endeavors if you think success!
Great men who walked the surface of the earth, came, saw and conquered and those who are currently taking the world by storm has one thing in common-yes, we can!
The greatest stronghold in life is not demonic stronghold but mental slavery! So many people with fantastic ideas, great plans could not see any of them materialize and become realities because they have been incapacitated by their negative thoughts. Your thoughts can either enslave your dreams or facilitate them! Your success or failure in the journey of life solely depends on what you think! If you think you can become great in life; that positive thoughts forms your bodily movements which creates a dynamic attitude that propels you towards greater achievements!
The thoughts of a man is a very powerful force that creates a dynamic motion which propels your life in the right direction or in the wrong way! For instance, When you tie a rope on a hen leg against a tree for a long time, the movement of that hen is limited to a particular spot, and that forms her thinking faculty. When the rope is removed eventually, the hen still dangles in that same spot because her mind has been conditioned to think the rope is still there.
A boxer can only win a match against his opponent if he thinks he can! Likewise, also, an athlete can only win a race if he thinks that he can emerge victorious!
Finally, no matter what life has thrown at you,no matter the challenges you are confronted with; just know that you can change your situation and turn your world around by thinking positively. You can emerge a victor and a conqueror by changing the way you think!

I Can Make It Happen
I Can Make It Happen
History abounds with tales of experts who were convinced that the ideas, plans, and projects of others could never be achieved. However, accomplishment came to those who said, "I can make it happen."
The Italian sculptor Agostino d'Antonio worked diligently on a large piece of marble. Unable to produce his desired masterpiece, he lamented, "I can do nothing with it." Other sculptors also worked this difficult piece of marble, but to no avail. Michelangelo discovered the stone and visualized the possibilities in it. His "I-can-make-it-happen" attitude resulted in one of the world's masterpieces - David.
The experts of Spain concluded that Columbus's plans to discover a new and shorter route to the West Indies was virtually impossible. Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand ignored the report of the experts. "I can make it happen," Columbus persisted. And he did. Everyone knew the world was flat, but not Columbus. The Nina, the Pinta, the Santa Maria, along with Columbus and his small band of followers, sailed to "impossible" new lands and thriving resources.
Even the great Thomas Alva Edison discouraged his friend, Henry Ford, from pursuing his fledgling idea of a motorcar. Convinced of the worthlessness of the idea, Edison invited Ford to come and work for him. Ford remained committed and tirelessly pursued his dream. Although his first attempt resulted in a vehicle without reverse gear, Henry Ford knew he could make it happen. And, of course, he did.
"Forget it," the experts advised Madame Curie. They agreed radium was a scientifically impossible idea. However, Marie Curie insisted, "I can make it happen."
Let's not forget our friends Orville and Wilbur Wright. Journalists, friends, armed forces specialists, and even their father laughed at the idea of an airplane. "What a silly and insane way to spend money. Leave flying to the birds," they jeered. "Sorry," the Wright brothers responded. "We have a dream, and we can make it happen." As a result, a place called Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, became the setting for the launching of their "ridiculous" idea.
Finally, as you read these accounts under the magnificent lighting of your environment, consider the plight of Benjamin Franklin. He was admonished to stop the foolish experimenting with lighting. What an absurdity and waste of time! Why, nothing could outdo the fabulous oil lamp. Thank goodness Franklin knew he could make it happen. You too can make it happen!
It Couldn't Be Done
Somebody said that it couldn't be done, But he with a chuckle replied That maybe it couldn't, but he would be one Who wouldn't say so "till he tried." So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin On his face. If he worried, he hid it. He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn't be done, and he did it. Somebody scoffed: "Oh, you'll never do that; At least no one ever has done it." But he took off his coat and took off his hat And the first thing he knew he'd begun it. With the lift of his chin and a bit of a grin, Without any doubting or quiddit, He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn't be done, and he did it. There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done. There are thousands to prophesy failure. There are thousands to point out to you, one by one, the dangers that wait to assail you. But just buckle right in with a bit of a grin, then take off your coat and go to it; just start in to sing as you tackle the thing that cannot be done, and you'll do it.
From Candles to Soap
In 1879, Procter and Gamble's best seller was candles. But the company was in trouble. Thomas Edison had invented the light bulb, and it looked as if candles would become obsolete. Their fears became reality when the market for candles plummeted since they were now sold only for special occasions.
The outlook appeared to be bleak for Procter and Gamble. However, at this time, it seemed that destiny played a dramatic part in pulling the struggling company from the clutches of bankruptcy. A forgetful employee at a small factory in Cincinnati forgot to turn off his machine when he went to lunch. The result? A frothing mass of lather filled with air bubbles. He almost threw the stuff away but instead decided to make it into soap. The soap floated. Thus, Ivory soap was born and became the mainstay of the Procter and Gamble Company.
Why was soap that floats such a hot item at that time? In Cincinnati, during that period, some people bathed in the Ohio River. Floating soap would never sink and consequently never got lost. So, Ivory soap became a best seller in Ohio and eventually across the country also.
Like Procter and Gamble, never give up when things go wrong or when seemingly insinuations problems arise. Creativity put to work can change a problem and turn it into a gold mine.
A Ten-Cent Idea
When young F. W. Woolworth was a store clerk, he tried to convince his boss to have a ten-cent sale to reduce inventory. The boss agreed, and the idea was a resounding success. This inspired Woolworth to open his own store and price items at a nickel and a dime. He needed capital for such a venture, so he asked his boss to supply the capital for part interest in the store. His boss turned him down flat. "The idea is too risky," he told Woolworth. "There are not enough items to sell for five and ten cents." Woolworth went ahead without his boss's backing, and he not only was successful in his first store, but eventually he owned a chain of F. W. Woolworth stores across the nation. Later, his former boss was heard to remark, "As far as I can figure out, every word I used to turn Woolworth down cost me about a million dollars."
Henry Ford hired an efficiency expert to go through his plant. He said, "Find the nonproductive people. Tell me who they are, and I will fire them!"
The expert made the rounds with his clipboard in hand and finally returned to Henry Ford's office with his report. "I've found a problem with one of your administrators," he said. "Every time I walked by, he was sitting with his feet propped up on the desk. The man never does a thing. I definitely think you should consider getting rid of him!" When Henry Ford learned the name of the man the expert was referring to, Ford shook his head and said, "I can't fire him. I pay that man to do nothing but think - and that's what he's doing.
Conclusion
If an impulse comes to say some un-thoughtful word today that may drive a friend away, don't say it! If you've heard a word of blame cast upon your neighbor's name. That may injure his fair fame, don't tell it! If malicious gossip's tongue some vile slander may have flung on the head of old or young, don't repeat it! Thoughtful, kind, helpful speech," 'Tis a gift promised to each - this, lesson we would teach"!

Make a Difference
Make a Difference
We are all gifted with a unique set of skills and abilities. With those abilities we can make extra-ordinary things happen in the world around us, or not.
It is completely up to you whether you want your life to make a difference and what difference you want your life to make.
Many people set lofty goals for their lives and want to be remembered as visionaries, they want to change and save the world.
Others want to be remembered as the kind man or women down the street who always helped and always listened if you needed help.
Who do you think is the better person?
The one who changes the world or the one who saves the individual?
Do what not have to do incredible things; just being there for the people around you can save someone from a meaningless life and help them lead the life they were meant to live.
Small things matter
Changing the life of another person is an incredible feeling and it is completely within your grasp. You can do this by deciding to become a mentor for a young ambitious person. You can help them avoid the mistakes you have made and help them learn from the ones they will inevitably make themselves.
Fight for someone's rights
You will often see someone get treated unfairly. It happens both professionally and socially, individuals who deserve recognition do not get it.
By taking up the fight and making sure others get what they deserve and earned you will be a true hero. You will make a lasting impact on their lives and you will be rewarded with love and help in the future when you are in need.
The law of karma says that whatever you do you will get back three fold, helping others is therefore a selfish act, but still a good act, one that you should do without fear, with love and with the knowledge that you will one day be rewarded.
Go the distance
Compromise is the enemy of long term commitment, if you have committed to helping someone by being their mentor or by fighting for their rights, doesn't stop half way. Go the distance and see it through. Make sure something happens so all your work doesn't end up as only talk.
Conclusion
In truth we might all be here to help each other, we might all be a part of a machine that fosters cooperation, or were not. We might just be here to make the best of the situation for ourselves.
In any case, helping others brings happiness and prosperity into your own life, so for whatever reason you chose to help others, it will always help you in return.
The difference between stopping half way and finishing isn't much in terms of the work you put in, but worlds apart in the difference for the individual you are helping.

Yuletide: How banks cashed in on ATM malfunction
Banks have made huge income by charging customers N200 for every withdrawal over the counter owing to the failure of some Automated Teller Machines (ATM) to function properly in the country.
Some customers who besieged their banks to make last minute withdrawals were disappointed as they were unable to access funds from the ATMs forcing many to join the long queues in the banks to withdraw using their cheque books or tellers.
Banks charged N200 for each withdrawal over-the -counter by customers, a charge initially put in place to discourage customers from going into the banking hall for small ticket transactions.
Since early last week, some bank networks began to misbehave while some ATMs started to dry-up. Some customers were seen around the bank premises, raising their voices in dismay at the security officials and the failure of the banks to fund the machines.
When Daily Trust visited some banks in Lagos, Ogun and Rivers states, our reporters observed long queues in most of the Deposit Money Banks’ (DMBs) ATM points.
At Oba Akran in Ikeja, Oshodi and Marina in the Lagos metropolis, there were long queues of bank customers lamenting that they had visited several ATMs since day break but could not withdraw their hard earned money.
Similarly, in Agege, Egbeda and Iyana Ipaja, depositors were seen fighting, with security men attached to the banks finding it difficult to curtail the huge crowd.
Some depositors could not withstand the stress and later left, while those that had no alternative waited for hours to get their turn and eventually access to their funds.
A staff of one of the banks, who would not want his name mentioned because he was not authorised to speak to the press said, “the measure may have resulted from the united year end calendar for the banks that want to retain as much deposit as possible to close the month and the year on a positive note
The banks visited our reporter included First Bank, Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB), Ecobank, Zenith Bank, Skye Bank, Fidelity, Diamond and Access.
Some officials of the banks who spoke to Daily Trust, however, debunked allegations of cash crunch in the system and also denied that there was deliberate plan to extort bank customers, claiming that they were servicing the machines to work optimally during the long holiday.

Boxing Day Soccer War: Gunners ambush Albion
26th December 2016
.As Guardiola admits anything can happen at Hull
After back-to-back defeats in the league, Arsenal will look to get back to winning ways when they welcome West Bromwich Albion to the Emirates today.
Arsenal have a decent record against West Brom at home and will not expect another stumble on Boxing Day. The Gunners stay favourite to win the tie and start their ascent to the top. Tony Pulis, however, has often been successful in frustrating big teams and given Arsenal’s recent form, he could just about do that.
The Gunners got huge injury boosts as Danny Welbeck and Aaron Ramsey have returned back to training. Although Welbeck isn’t likely to start a match before January as Wenger stated, Ramsey just might be involved in the game against West Brom.
Aaron Ramsey has been out since the start of the month with a hamstring complaint but has now returned to full training and could be named on the bench against the Baggies.
Long-term absentee Danny Welbeck has also returned to training but is still some weeks away as he recovers from the knee injury which has kept him on the sidelines since May.
Shkodran Mustafi has been ruled out until the start of January with a hamstring complaint, while a similar issue will keep right-back Mathieu Debuchy out of action for another few weeks.
Per Mertesacker, who has missed the entire season to date with a knee injury, could be back in time for the FA Cup third round in early January, but Santi Cazorla is still several months away from returning after ankle surgery.
For Tony Pulis’s visitors, Jonny Evans remains a doubt after missing the last two games with a calf injury, while James Morrison faces a late fitness test following a bout of flu in the run-up to Christmas.
West Brom have endured a bumpy start to the 2016/17 season but despite this remain in high spirits as they continue to stake their claim for one of the league’s UEFA Europa League qualification places this term. They’ve won six, drawn five and lost six too – yet find themselves in eighth place, which just shows how important consistent results can be with rivals around them dropping points with regularity.
In the other match for the day, Pep Guardiola acknowledges Manchester City have tightened up defensively in their last two games – but claims anything could still happen at Hull on Boxing Day.
City emerged from a bad spell by keeping a first clean sheet in nine attempts in a victory over Watford earlier this month and followed up by coming from behind to beat Arsenal 2-1 last week.
The back line has appeared to be City’s weak link this season but Guardiola has stressed the way to improve it is not by focusing on fundamentals such as tackling, but improving the all-round play of the team.

If ex President Jonathan left no savings, what money did Buhari use to …?’
If ex President Jonathan left no savings, what money did Buhari use to …?’
ON DECEMBER 26, 201612:00 PM
On Christmas Day of 2016, President Muhammadu Buhari hosted leading citizens of the Federal Capital Territory led by the minister of the FCT, Muhammad Bello, and during the visit he returned to his old habit of blaming and said, and I quote, “there was no money saved, no infrastructure built, and power is still our main problem.
This is patently untrue and without mincing words, President Buhari lied. Former President Jonathan left $2.07 billion in the Excess Crude Account when he handed over to President Buhari on May 29, 2015. He also left Foreign reserves of $29. 6 billion for the incoming government in May 2015.
If ex President Jonathan left no savings, with what money did President Muhammadu Buhari use to bail out those states that could not pay salary (mostly APC states) after he assumed office in May 2015? Of course the Central Bank of Nigeria did not print money!
That money came from somewhere. On Tuesday the 26th of July, 2016, President Buhari commissioned the $1.457bn Abuja-Kaduna standard gauge rail project.
1.7 Million Nigerians Became Jobless in Nine Months
The harsh economic situation in the country has thrown 1.7 million Nigerians into the job market in nine months, a report from the National Bureau of Statistics has indicated.
The unemployment report, which was obtained on Friday, covered January to September this year.
Specifically, the report showed that the number of unemployed Nigerians rose from 9.48 million at the beginning of the year to 11.19 million by September ending.
The report also indicated that while the number of those employed rose marginally from 69 million at the beginning of the year to 69.47 million by September ending, the labour force population rose by 2.18 million from 78.48 million to 80.66 million.
The report said that unemployment was highest for persons in the labour force between the ages of 15-24 and 25-34, representing the youth population in the labour force.
For instance, it said the unemployment rate was highest for those within the ages of 15 to 24, rising from 21.5 per cent in the beginning of the year to 25 per cent as of September ending this year.
For the 25 to 34 age group, the unemployment rate, according to the NBS report, increased from 12.9 per cent at the beginning of the year to 15 per cent as of the end of September.
It noted that unemployment and underemployment were higher for women than men in the third quarter of 2016.
For instance, it said while 15.9 per cent of women in the labour force were unemployed as of the third quarter ending this year, a further 22.9 per cent of women in the labour force were underemployed during the period.
On the other hand, the report said 12 per cent of males were unemployed in the third quarter of 2016, while 16.7 per cent of males in the labour force were underemployed during the same period.
“Given that the nature of rural jobs is largely menial and unskilled, such as in agriculture and the likes, unemployment is more of a concern in urban areas where more skilled labour is required.
“The unemployment rate in the urban areas was 18.3 per cent compared to 11.8 per cent in the rural areas, as the preference is more for formal white collar jobs, which are located mostly in urban centres,” the report said.
Meanwhile, financial experts have warned that the huge preference for imported items by many Nigerians, if left unchecked, could worsen the unemployment situation.
The Acting Director, Trade and Exchange Department, Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Woritka Gotring, said the problem could be better managed with the patronage of made in Nigerian products.
He said the resilience of the informal sector was what had been reducing the impact of the economic crisis on Nigerians.
Gotring said if not for the resilience shown by the informal sector where a lot of people were engaged in various economic activities, it would have been very difficult to manage the economic crisis.
He said despite the fact that a lot of people in the informal sector were employed in one form of economic activity or the other, the infrastructure gap in the country was limiting the potential of the sector.
In order to enable the country to conserve its foreign exchange, he called for policy consistency that would encourage capital flows and promote local production, fiscal discipline, enhancement of local manufacturing capacity and import substitution.
Gotring said, “Foreign exchange rate is one of the most important means through which a country’s relative level of economic health is determined.
“The slump in global oil prices has hit Nigeria hard plunging the country into recession. It is evident that the economy is going through tough times with a decline in inflows and continuous demand pressure on foreign exchange arising from high import bill.”
Also, the President, Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr Tony Ejinkeonye, called for an aggressive diversification of the economy to reverse the unemployment situation in the country.
He said aggressive diversification of the economy through agriculture and solid minerals was vital as it would help to create more jobs for the people and reduce the level of poverty in the country.

10 things that annoyed Buhari in 2016
President Muhammadu Buhari did not pretend about certain issues and individuals that annoyed him in 2016. BAYO AKINLOYE compiles 10 things that got under the Nigeria’s number one citizen’s skin
Governor Ayo Fayose
“Every one of my trips can be politically or economically assessed. I recall that the first trip I had was to go to Chad and Niger. The trip was mainly because of Nigeria’s security.
“I have not seen any frivolous journey that I undertook. I understand that the Governor of Ekiti State (Ayo Fayose) said that every trip I make costs Nigeria at least $1m. I do not know how he worked that out. But every trip that I have made, there must be economic and political reasons that justified them. Those who do not see it the way the government sees it have the right not to agree and say whatever they like. But we will try and give them the appropriate reply.”
Aisha Buhari
“I don’t know which party my wife belongs to, but she belongs to my kitchen and my living room and the other room. So I claim superior knowledge over her and the rest of the opposition, because in the end I have succeeded. It’s not easy to satisfy the whole Nigerian opposition parties or to participate in the government.
“I am sure you have a house. You know where your kitchen is. You know where your living room is, and I believe your wife looks after all of that, even if she is working.”
Corruption
“The corruption we met at personal and institutional levels was unbelievable. Corruption was turning into a culture. After we came in, people started realising the truth. Nigeria will either kill corruption or corruption will kill Nigeria in the long run. It has not been easy for another party to come in and get things done properly, especially with the new economic reality of $37 per barrel of oil, against the $100 for the period, and there was no savings, no infrastructure on the ground.”
Judiciary
“On the fight against corruption vis-à-vis the judiciary, Nigerians will be right to say that is my main headache for now. If you reflect on what I went through for 12 years, when I wanted to be the President, I attempted three times and on the fourth attempt, through God and the use of technology, it was possible for Nigerians to elect an APC candidate as President.
“I am worried that the expectation of the public is yet to be met by the judiciary with regard to the removal of delay and the toleration of delay tactics by lawyers. When cases are not concluded, the negative impression is given that crime pays. So far, the corruption cases filed by government are not progressing as speedily as they should in spite of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act of 2015 essentially because the courts allow some lawyers to frustrate the reforms introduced by law.”
Niger Delta militants
“We are trying to speak with their leaders, to know how many groups there are. And, we are also working with the oil companies. The militants engage in sophisticated sabotage, using skills they had gained from training either by the government, or the oil companies, to vandalise installations deep in the sea. We need to understand who the real agitators are, and engage (in dialogue) with them, so that confidence can be restored in the region. The Niger Delta situation is more complex, since the militants have no central command, and some of them are mere extortioners.”
Confab report
“I advised against the issue of national conference. You will recall that ASUU was on strike then for almost nine months. The teachers in tertiary institutions were on strike for more than a year, yet that government had about N9bn to organise that meeting (National Conference) and some (members) were complaining that they hadn’t even been paid. I never liked the priority of that government on that particular issue, because what it meant was that the discussions on what the National Assembly ought to do was more important than keeping our children in schools. That is why I haven’t even bothered to read it or ask for a briefing on it and I want it to go into the so-called archives.”
Indigenous People of Biafra/Nnamdi Kanu
“Those looking for Biafra have a tough job. A lot of them that have participated in the demonstrations were not born and didn’t know what people like us went through (fighting Biafra) by walking from the northern border to initially Abakaliki, then coming back and starting from Awka to Abagana and to Onitsha. We lost our friends and relatives; about two million Nigerians were killed. They thought it was a joke, so I think they have a problem.
“I assure them (Niger Delta militants) that the saying by Gen. (Yakubu) Gowon (retd.) that to keep Nigeria one is a task that must be done. In those days we never thought of oil; all we were concerned about was one Nigeria. So, please pass this to the militants that one Nigeria is not negotiable and they had better accept that. Nigerian constitution is clear as to what they should get and I assure them there will be justice.”
PDP
“I am going to bore you with what we met. I know that I am being accused in the papers of passing the buck, but passing the buck is sometimes absolutely necessary to remind people who take things for granted. When we came in, I screamed to high heavens because I had promised a lot while seeking votes. I asked, ‘where is the savings?’ There was no savings. There was no infrastructure, power, rails, roads, there was none. What did we spend the money on? I was told (on) buying food and petrol.
“Where were the billions going? We conducted a study and found out that the oil marketers were committing fraud on at least one-third of what they were importing, which was about 25 per cent of our foreign exchange. I have bored you with this long explanation because there are things that could be hidden from you by those that have mismanaged the country in the last 16, 17 years.”
Boko Haram
“I assure all Nigerians and friends of the country, once again, that my administration will not rest on its oars until the ungodly terrorist sect (Boko Haram) is totally eliminated from our country. As peace gradually returns to the insurgency-ravaged north-eastern states, the Federal Government will continue to work diligently to ensure the rapid and full reintegration and rehabilitation of all internally displaced persons, including orphaned children in the region. We will also sustain and strengthen ongoing actions to protect children more effectively from violence, child-labour, child-trafficking, forced marriages and other related offences.”
Budget padding
“Some bureaucrats removed what we put in the proposal and replaced them with what they wanted. I have to look at the bill that has been passed by the National Assembly, ministry by ministry; to be sure that what has been brought back for me to sign is in line with our original submission.
“I am waiting for the 2017 budget to be brought to us in council. Any sign of padding anywhere, I will remove it. They (corrupt people) don’t want to reflect on the situation in which we are, economically. They want to live the same way; they simply want business as usual.”
